Mark Weaver, Photographer

Mark grew up in northern Michigan, surrounded by rolling hills, cherry orchards, and the turquoise sweep of Lake Michigan. His father was a teacher who spent his summers working in a Traverse City camera shop. There, drifting among lenses and prints, Mark was first exposed to the idea of photography—not just as a hobby, but as a way of looking at the world.

Mark has now lived in Florida for four decades, but his goal has remained the same: to capture the photo. He refers to “Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima” as an iconic example of the medium. It holds victory and resilience in a single moment the whole world can feel. Nature offers those same moments if you can find them. Mark hopes his photographs will pull viewers into a place in time that feels both immediate and unrepeatable.

Documenting the deep blues, vivid greens, glowing horizons, and raw, shifting energy of the natural world is Mark’s passion. He constantly experiments with terrain and technique, and often finds himself drawn to the saturated colors of mountains, rivers, night skies, and natural phenomena.
